The Coach House is less than 5 minutes walk from a variety of good restaurants and a couple of well stocked convenience stores. It's also only a short walk from Wandsworth Common a pleasant park with many trees, wide open spaces and ponds, and fashionable Bellevue Road with its interesting shops, thriving restaurants, pubs, and cafés.
To help you find your way around we provide an information pack giving full details of local transport (tube and train stations are just a 7 minute walk) restaurants, shops, pubs etc. together with a clear map of the area and the tube/train systems and a guide to how best to use them.
Fancy a meal in a local restaurant? You might be lucky and get a table at Chez Bruce, 10 minutes walk away and voted by top London chefs as the place they most enjoy eating out. (We can make a booking for you if you wish - but do let us know well in advance). Less than 5 minutes walk there is Ferrari's a - popular modern Italian bistro - and next door is The Point a very pleasant restaurant and wine bar. A few paces further on is the Thai Buffalo, excellent Thai food.
The pubs and wine bars of Bellevue Road include The Surrey Tavern, a traditional pub, and the Pitcher and Piano, a wine bar serving light meals and popular with the young. The Bellevue Road restaurants include Dexter's Grill - American style grills and burgers and Est Est Est - lively, modern décor, Italian/modern European cuisine.
There are also a couple of cafés/patisseries, a delicatessen, two art galleries, an antiques shop, a bookshop, several well appointed fashion shops, a gift shop with wonderful and unusual items and a good hairdressers. All this in a road no more than 400 yards long!
Also close at hand is The Balham Tup, a lively pub for the young, and The Bedford with an excellent live comedy cabaret three nights a week.
A short taxi ride away are more excellent value restaurants you might like to try: Tabaq, 1998 winner of the best Pakistani restaurant in the UK and National Curry Chef awards and Moxon's fish restaurant winner of the Time Out 'Best Local London Restaurant' award in 1999.
London is truly an amazing city for food. Every national cuisine is represented and very often you do not have to go into the centre to find it. Just ask us!
